3 x APS5 Environment Assessment Officers are required for three months, commencing immediately until March 2012.

We are seeking candidates who have:

• tertiary qualifications in science or natural resource management and/or experience in environmental impact assessment;
• the ability to apply environmental legislation within a Government context;
• the ability to critically analyse projects and assessment documents and prepare sound advice with perception and judgement;
• the ability to build and maintain effective relationships and networks;
• the ability to communicate concisely, both verbally and in writing with colleagues and stakeholders in an accurate, timely, and unambiguous manner

Duties of the positions include:

• under supervision, undertake a range of projects and activities relating to assessment and approval under Australian environment protection laws;
• contribute to policy advice and creative problem solving;
• under supervision, liaise across Government and with industry, conservation organisations and other stakeholders on issues relating to environment protection;
• as part of a team, deliver on a range of tasks including preparation of briefing and communication material and provide technical, administrative and corporate support to senior staff
