3rd Class and 2nd Class Power Engineers

Challenging opportunities exist within the Sherritt Metals Division for 3rd Class and 2nd Class Power Engineers working in our Utilities Operations. 

 

Position Profile:

This position will provide a chance to work in a stable industrial environment with the potential for skill development and growth.  Utilities Operations provides high pressure steam, compressed air, generated electricity, treated water and other utilities to the Fort Saskatchewan industrial site. The 3rd Class and 2nd Class Power Engineers will be responsible for maintaining plant operations and preparing equipment for maintenance, including issuing permits, lock out/tag out procedures, and equipment shut down/start-up.  Candidates who demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, leadership attributes and the ability to function in multi-discipline cross functional teams will be considered an asset. This position will involve the successful candidate to complete the Utilities progression system comprising of the powerhouse floor operator, water treatment plant operator and powerhouse panel operator.  The successful applicant will be assigned to a 12-hour 5/4-4/5 rotational shift. 

 

Qualifications: 

§         Third/Second Class Power Engineering Certificate issued by ABSA

§         5  years of industrial experience

§         Strong technical and mechanical aptitude

§         Ability to work in a team environment

§         Experience working with operational equipment

§         Technical and mechanical aptitude

§         Demonstrated work ethic, attendance and positive attitude

§         Previous Supervisory experience in power plant operations and maintenance
