Position Description

This position will assist and participate in large-scale aircraft manufacturing and fabrication prototypes necessary to enable future airplane production systems. The individual in this position will be expected to architect and demonstrate real time dynamic aircraft manufacturing and aircraft part fabrication processes and infrastructure, as well as process control and material handling solutions to Boeing's most challenging and valuable production system issues. The integrated nature of these development and prototyping efforts requires thorough experience of Industrial Monitoring and Control Systems, Human-Machine Interfaces, large-scale production and fabrication automation architectures, mechanisms and algorithms, Statistical Process Control and a demonstrated capacity to quickly develop operational understanding of additional areas as needed. The pace of these efforts will require the individual in this position to personally develop automated and robotic aircraft manufacturing and fabrication technical solutions while simultaneously providing strong technical leadership to others engaged in the effort. Particular areas of interest include distributed control systems, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, human-machine interfaces, multi-machine automation and control, automated dynamic delivery of work instructions and materials, real-time decision making with multi-sensory network inputs, and real-time visioning and inspection systems.

Uses syntax, pace, volume, diction, and mechanics appropriate to the media being used. Accurately interprets messages from others and responds appropriately.

[ + ] Continuous Learning
Usually seeks and uses feedback from own work group members, direct supervisor, and occasionally members of others work groups and other sources of information to identify appropriate areas for learning. Generally identifies and participates in appropriate learning activities (e.g., courses, reading, self-study, coaching, experiential learning) that help fulfill learning needs. Participates in learning activities in a way that makes the most of the learning experience (e.g., takes notes, asks questions, critically analyzes information, keeps on-the-job application in mind, does required tasks). Puts new knowledge, understanding, or skill to practical use on the job; furthers learning through trial and error. Occasionally places self in unfamiliar or uncomfortable situations in order to ask questions and learn.

[ + ] Innovation
Generally identifies assumptions in the way problems or situations of moderate scope and complexity are defined or presented. Sees alternative ways to view or define problems; is not constrained by the thoughts or approaches of work group members or inter-organizational employees. [ + ] Intel Agents and Architectures
General ability to design and develop software architectures and programs that are capable of acting as an autonomous or semi-autonomous entity to carry out a specified function or achieve a specified goal. General knowledge of the structure, capabilities and limitations of different types of agents (e.g. reflexive, model-based, goal-based, learning).

[ + ] Intel Human - Cptr Interaction
General ability to research methodologies and process for designing interfaces, implementing interfaces, developing descriptive and predictive models and theories of interaction and developing new interfaces and interaction techniques.

[ + ] Robotics
General ability to research distributed control, sensory data, image processing and fusion, advanced control schemes, high fidelity world perception modeling of systems and man-machine interfaces. General ability to research robot kinematics and dynamics, robot vision and navigation, design control structures for robot systems and manufacturing systems, artificial intelligence systems such as expert systems, neural networks and fuzzy logic for robotics applications, computer architectures and applications for automated and man/machine systems.
