Henkel has an immediate opening for an Applications Engineer in Madison Heights, MI.

Overall, the Application Engineer position will provide Engineering and Assembly Adhesives technical support and guidance to the Automotive market. Main duties include working directly with key customers and sales to close new business, maintain existing business and identify new product development opportunities.

Duties also include:
Assist Senior Engineers with laboratory projects as part of a training and development program during the first several months of employment.
*  Interface with the AT PD/AR as project manager for key stagegate projects.
*  Promote Henkel adhesive technologies and process solutions to the Automotive market.
*  Assist customers and field sales at customer plants with technical support on new and existing applications.  Establish a rapport with customer engineering staffs.
*  Conduct / supervise specification validation testing for tier suppliers and OEM customers.
*  Monitor assigned major accounts and provide necessary technical input including personal visits.
*  Assume responsibility for assigned target accounts.  Provide necessary technical input and coordination with other departments to close accounts.
*  Develop test programs and/or process specifications as required for specific applications.
*  Document project failures and develop identified needs and/or product profiles.
*  Work with customers to troubleshoot manufacturing process and product issues.
*  Issue lab reports and technical follow up to support applications and customer requirements.
*  Will travel to support customer applications as required

Requirements:
* Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering or technical field with 1-3 years experience.
* Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* The ability to design and implement test programs.
* Experience in polymer science and/or experience with manufacturing processes is desirable
