APPRENTICESHIPS - STATE TRANSIT AUTHORITY - HEAVY VEHICLE MOTOR  MECHANICS AND BODY REPAIRERS

 

Do you want to play a critical part in delivering a reliable bus service to the people of Sydney?

A number of vacancies exist for Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Apprentices and Body Repairer Apprentices to commence on 09 July 2012.
 
As a State Transit Apprentice, you undertake a four-year apprenticeship during which time you gain valuable on-the-job experience, develop skills and knowledge and attain a nationally recognised qualification upon successful completion.
 
You will spend the first three years undertaking a combination of on-the-job training at your depot and classroom-based training at TAFE.  Your final year is spent on-the-job, practising the skills and knowledge you have gained.
 
A key part of your role is to assist trades staff at depots to maintain buses in order to ensure that passenger services are supplied with functional, cost effective, safe and reliable vehicles.
 
Successful applicants will need to demonstrate an understanding of and interest in their chosen trade, with a dedication to completing TAFE studies and the ability to diagnose faults and solve problems.

Job Grade / Classification: Apprentices (Targeting 7 Mechanics and 3 Body Repairers across the Sydney Metropolitian area)
Total Remuneration Package: Wages ($514.60 - $896.80 per week), plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.  Adult apprentices are renumerated as Engineering Repair Assistant (ERA) Level 2  (currently $870.90 per week.)
