Area Sales Manager Job in California US

Job Description

Rosemount Analytical, a Business Unit of Emerson Electric has an immediate need for a Western Area Sales Manager.

Position Overview:

Plan and direct sales activities of sales people and other selected selling channels to meet Company booking and sales goals within established budgets and in accordance with published sales policy.

  1. Maintain organized records of present and potential customers and markets, identify key accounts, assign sales people objectives by territory.
  2. Drive the activities of the salespeople and selling channels to achieve booking targets as established by the Divisions and VP of Sales.
  3. Establish short-term and long-term goals in terms of bookings, billings, and expenses to meet Division strategies and objectives.
  4. Forecast sales in terms of billings, bookings and total available market.
  5. Direct strategy for obtaining new customers.
  6. Recommend new products and / or approaches to new markets.
  7. Report on competitors’ activities, prices and products.
  8. Accompany sales people on strategic sales calls, make top level contacts, maintain personal sales activities, and optimize frequency of customer contact.
  9. Cooperate with other division field sales areas, manufacturer’s representatives, distributors and with other division sales organizations, jointly pursue projects requiring coordinated efforts, recommend additional sales coverage where appropriate.
  10. Perform market analyses and prepare strategic recommendations (new products, approaches, etc.) to achieve sales growth.
  11. Measure individual sales people’s performance, review performance, counsel as appropriate, set goals, maintain records and make salary recommendations.
  12. Cooperate with field service in carrying out established service policies so as to promote optimum customer relations.
  13. Assist in resolving critical customer problems, including receivables, which could effect the customer – supplier relationship.
  14. Assure that the responsible sales force carries out its assignment with respect to transmittal of information in both directions between customer and Division.
  15. Train and develop sales people and reps. of selling companies
  16. Direct tactics for obtaining the best price for the Division for each order.

Job Requirements

Education:     BS / BA degree in engineering or business related discipline or experience equivalence.

Experience:   Minimum 5 years of field sales or marketing experience
