Bilingual Communications Coordinator Job in Toronto, Ontario Canada

Duties and Responsibilities:

Working with the Internal Communications Coordinator, you will manage external communications activities. Responsibilities include:

Media relations:

1)    Ensure that members, the public and the media are provided with desired and needed information in a timely and effective manner with respect to media and/or magazine columns.

2)    Manage all media contacts on behalf of the Association; this will involve developing media plans, in particular for the annual meeting, leadership awards, and annual awards programs; develop professional relationships with key industry media.

3)    Write and issue press releases and media advisories providing information to the media for stories/articles, referring members for interviews; write columns for magazines/websites, prepare Board members and/or staff for media interviews.

4)    Work with marketing team to manage various awards programs and events for members; seek to maximize media exposure for these programs.

 

Communications:

 

5)    Write the annual report each year.

6)    Manage the association’s public website, continually reviewing the site for accuracy of information; developing new material for the website to engage the audience (i.e. trivia, videos, social media, discussion groups, etc.); enter data into content management system ensuring consistency of branding and site graphics at all times.

7)    Continually look for content for website and magazine in other magazines, newsletters, e-newsletters and from other staff members.

8)    Create and distribute a variety of e-communications to members; post same information to the website.

9)    Manage visual identity guides, edit and proofread work produced by other staff members.

10) Take on other communications related projects as requested from time to time.

11) Work at tradeshows and events to promote the organization.

 

Editorial:

 

12) With the Internal Communications Coordinator, Act as co-Editor of the Association’s quarterly magazine.

13) Edit various marketing and communications materials as requested.

 

*FRENCH LANGUANGE responsibilities include responding to media and membership inquiries, liaison with translator proof reading translated documents, translating some written correspondence (emails and letters).  

 

Qualifications:

MUST be fully bilingual (English/French).
Post-secondary education in communications or media relations.
A minimum of one to two years of increasingly responsible experience in a communications environment, preferably in a position dealing with media and writing press releases. 
An excellent writer, strong editor and media savvy professional.
Experience in social media, e-communications and website management a must. 
Ability to manage several projects and meet multiple deadlines.
Position requires attendance at evening and weekend meetings and functions.
