Performs specific tasks related to billing and account resolution by utilizing approved billing techniques to contribute to overall department success. Posts adjustments to the specified patient account in accordance with the current policy and procedure. Delivers billing support for providers in the Healthcare Industry. Focuses on helping clients optimize operations, improve cash flow and strengthen their financial position.

Utilizes various billing systems to submit claims to payers for medical/clinical/facility services.

Employs effective and efficient billing techniques, and self-directed initiative, to resolve general billing edits.

Assists in the research and correction of posting errors.

Reviews remits from payors for Secondary and Tertiary billing to ensure that the correct total charges and patient liability are being billed.

Acts as the connection between internal and external clients to assist in the account billing resolution process and to escalate issues, which adversely impacts claim resolution and payment.

Documents all billing efforts and action needed to successfully resolve claim issues in the internal and/or external accounts management systems.

Updates patient information in the billing system.

Follows policies and procedures defined by department as required to meet payer and regulatory requirements related to claims billing and payment, including procedures related to release of information, record retention, privacy and confidentiality.

Ensures regulatory compliance regarding billing on all accounts.

Comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of policies and procedures for the work area.

Integrates knowledge and experience as a skilled specialist.

Possesses broad knowledge of related processes, disciplines and/or technologies and their interdependencies.

Possesses deep technical knowledge in area of specialization.

Applies advanced principles, theories, concepts, and technologies as well as knowledge of related disciplines to solve problems and deliver solutions.

Interfaces with customers and internal departments in the resolution of complex problems.

Assists with the training and mentoring of less experienced team members.

Qualifications

2-4 years of experience with Medicare billing in a hospital setting.

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Associates degree, technical college or some college course work preferred
