Credit Analyst – Financial Institutions

We are currently seeking a Credit Analyst to join our financial institutions team based in London with a primary focus on Turkish Financial Institutions.

The Credit Analyst will be trained to understand and interpret financial institution financial statements; analyse financial statements and become familiar with standard Fitch ratio and trend analysis; prepare credit analysis on banks and other non-bank financial institutions for presentation at rating committees, prepare for and attend rating committees on banks and non-banking financial institutions from other geographic areas and contribute to internal discussions on rating issues. Analysts are also expected to support broader research projects by helping to source, store and present data on banking systems covered, prepare charts and slides for use by senior analysts, carry-out research on specific topics as requested by senior team members.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Collect, input and verify accuracy of quarterly financial statements published by a large number of Turkish financial institutions.

Monitor, store and analyse Turkish banking and financial sector regulation, and official published data on a regular basis.

Analyse trends and notify tem members of any significant trend signals.

Closely follow regulatory and economic developments in Turkey; in conjunction with analysts covering other geographic areas, broaden knowledge about regulatory features in other countries in order to better compare and contrast developments in Turkey.

Discuss trends with other team members.

Help senior analysts prepare rating committee packs. This will include completion of stress testing models and tools, sourcing and preparation of peer table comparisons, preparation of charts and gathering of relevant independent research.

Assist in the preparation of credit rating reports on rated institutions, sector reports and specific Turkish-related comments and topical stories.

Participate in presentations to internal rating committees.
Follow sector-wide developments and assess their potential impact on rated institutions, participating in the preparation of special reports.

Participate in rating committees for other rated financial institutions.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

Experience of working as a financial analyst, bank auditor, bank regulatory function or similar.

Good educational background to at least a first university degree level.

Fluency in English and Turkish, both written and spoken is essential. (Additional language skills will be viewed as a plus).
Analysts are required to carry out data analysis, bank research and write credit rating reports in English; excellent written skills are required. 

Ability to work independently as well as being a good team player. Willingness to learn and support all team members is important.
Ability to cope with time pressure and work to deadlines is essential.

Strong organizational and presentation skills.

While an ability to look at the big picture is important, attention to detail is essential, especially with regards to analysis of financial statements, ratios and maintenance of databases.

Ability to travel when required (potentially up to 20 days per a year).
