Credit Approval – Corporate Banking

The Credit Approver will provide independent sign off on credits (with a particular focus on Hong Kong Mid Market Enterprises), deal with credit requests and assist in developing appropriate credit programs, risk frameworks and portfolio management. The incumbent will provide credit approval for all credit extended to clients, review credit applications and perform financial analysis, credit evaluation, industry review and liaise with Relationship Managers, conducting conduct calls and factory visits when required. The jobholder will perform account monitoring, provide industry specific input and assist in structuring credit transactions, analysing risk and returns in terms of the potential impact on the capital and PL relevant to the business unit, transaction and product and manage credit exposures within the portfolio, including stress testing and early problem recognition. The Credit Approver will identify and execute risk mitigation to create new risk capacity, reduce risks and concentration and to improve returns/capital allocation and manage the impact of credit, market, franchise and operational risk on the portfolio of counterparties.

The successful candidate will have at least 10 years experience in credit risk, credit approval, lending, remedial management, relationship or portfolio management. Applicants will need to have prior credit approval experience covering large and complex underwritings and capital commitments,  ideally having gained experience of Hong Kong Mid Market Enterprises. Candidates will need to demonstrate strong technical expertise and a solid understanding of capital market products, complex structures and associated risks and have a comprehensive understanding of the local market, key clients, local market conditions and capabilities of competitors. Excellent written and spoken English language skills are essential, Cantonese language skills are highly desired. This role will be positioned at either at an SVP or Director level, candidates with less experience may be considered for a VP level role.
