Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is seeking a critical care trained, transport experienced nurse to be part of its strong High Acuity Response Team (HART) of Registered Nurses.   HART nurses attend to acute patients in rural and remote health sites, either stabilizing them to avoid transfer or transporting to a higher level of care.  BC Ambulance Services provides transport with a basic life support ambulance team while HARTs supply advanced training in airway management.  

Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is a 255-bed tertiary hospital serving the Thompson/Cariboo/Shuswap Region of Interior Health.  It is the busiest trauma centre outside of the Lower Mainland/Vancouver Region.  The ground transport team covers the Thompson-Cariboo-Shuswap Region, from Williams Lake to the north, Lillooet to the West, Merritt to the south and Revelstoke to the East.  We provide critical care in outlying facilities and is the best available care as quickly as possible.  When not involved in transports, HARTs are integrated into acute areas where they are supported by local Medical Directors and clinical managers. 

Our team is quite close.  RIH is nice sized hospital that is not too big that you feel like a number.  We perform on average one transport per day with the majority of calls at a CTAS II level or higher.”

 

Community Profile:  Kamloops is located in a scenic valley in BC’s Thompson Okanagan Region at the junction of the North and South Thompson Rivers.  Residents of this dynamic and growing community enjoy many leisure choices and activities, such as fishing, water sports, skiing, and mountain biking.  It is a nice sized community that is family orientated and provides a big city feel.
