DELCAM SPECIALIST (Mechanical Design Engineer) West Midlands
Our client is a long established and successful UK supplier of forgings to a wide range of industries both in the UK and overseas. They are based in West Bromwich and have solid plans for future growth. They are now looking to recruit a DELCAM SPECIALIST Technical Manager from a metal processing background on a permanent basis.
Reporting to: Operations Director
Candidate Requirements: A recognised mechanical engineering qualification backed up with experience in 3D modelling in a similar manufacturing area such as Forging, Casting, presswork, Stamping or Die Casting.
This is a hands-on role and interface with the shop floor is essential. A keen team worker is required.
Background: Led by an Operations Director the manufacturing team is a mix of highly experienced long serving staff and newly recruited people from outside the industry. The Company has a small design department involved in the design of tooling, the provision of technical expertise to the manufacturing team and is charged with overseeing the maintenance of engineering disciplines within the organisation.
The Role: This is a hands-on role for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer who has worked in a metal processing environment such as forging, casting or low volume machining.
Duties include:
The provision of overall management of the design department and in particular to facilitate a significant improvement in the engineering disciplines within the organisation.
To maximise the use of the existing 3D modelling (Delcam) and forging simulation (Q-form) packages and move to a position where all new tooling designs are simulated before release.
To modernise and improve the design department modus operandi and interface with the customer.
Where appropriate to work with the sales department on new projects and provide advice to the customer to facilitate best possible manufacture.
Work with the in house die shop to make the transfer of design as efficient and accurate as possible.
To provide design advice to the manufacturing team.
To play an active role in the manufacturing team and working with the Operations Director help in the overall development of the business.
To carry out other tasks as directed by the Operations Director.
The successful candidate will be an experienced Engineer with IT literacy in DELCAM and a background in metal processing such as Forging, Casting, presswork, Stamping or Die Casting.
The salary is negotable and depends on candidate skills and experience.
