Deputy Head of Finance

KMCS is a new service established from 1 April 2013 to provide support to commissioners working in Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), Local Authorities, Primary Care organisations and other health and social care agencies. Hays Senior Finance has been retained exclusively to recruit a Deputy Head of Technical Finance to join their expanding Integrated Provider Management team. The job will play an important part in the development of the finance function of the organisation and will be high profile throughout KMCS.

The job will take responsibility for the management and delivery of the technical contracting and finance team portfolio, and will provide operational management and direction to the area locality team. They will be responsible for all financial, information and technical management of provider contracts within the totality of their team’s portfolio, and will be responsible for ensuring that these are effectively technically monitored and managed.

A core component of the job will be the development and management of a high skilled multi-disciplinary team, and developing the systems and processes that ensure optimum product and productivity. It will define current processes, facilitate discussions and advise colleagues as to how best practice might be adopted in the definition of future processes, and will document those processes as they are agreed to oversee their delivery.

A key part of the role job will be communicating and partnering with non-finance stakeholders throughout the NHS and outside of the organisation. It will be necessary for the post holder to present highly complex information about projects, initiatives and services to a wide range of stakeholders in a formal setting in a way that is simple to understand. The role is extremely commercially focused and will be required to assist with non-finance duties such as public relations and marketing activities.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant, or will be able to demonstrate a similar level of experience within the NHS. They will have proven experience and a successful track record at a senior level of activity and finance planning in a major NHS organisation, and will be able to demonstrate experience of dealing with NHS contracts in a finance environment.
