Derivatives Policy and Risk Management Lawyer
The Company
Our Client is a market-leading financial services organisation. It is currently seeking a qualified lawyer with expertise in global derivatives policies and counterparty risk management for an upcoming temporary assignment.
The Role
This London-based project is starting immediately and will last 6-12 months. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing legal advice about counterparty exposure to mitigate risk and ensure maximum benefit of capital in the derivatives business.
About You
The successful candidate should have a broad knowledge of policies regarding documentation, negotiation guidelines, templates and authorities relating to the OTC/derivatives market. You should be able to analyze and advise on derivatives policies, specifically identifying and highlighting legal risk.
You should have demonstrable experience instructing local counsel as necessary to obtain advice in relation to the capacity of counterparties in their jurisdiction to enter into derivative transactions, advice in relation to close -out netting and collateral in their jurisdiction, and general advice in relation to legal issues that might be relevant to transacting in derivative instruments with counterparties based in their jurisdiction.
You should also be capable of supporting the Counterparty Exposure Management business team, the Global Documentation Unit, Collateral Management team, Credit Policy team, credit function and other key stakeholders with regard to developing risk and legal issues associated with derivatives.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years in advising on derivatives policies and counterparty risk management
- Qualified Solicitor or Barrister
- Strong organizational skills that allow for clear, up-to-date presentation of risk evaluation and policy changes to superiors
- Team player with flexibility, good judgment and sound decision making skills.
