For over 50 years, Kal Tire has expanded steadily from its humble roots in Vernon, BC to become Canada’s largest independent tire dealer with over 230 Kal Tire outlets across Canada, 12 retread facilities, 2 OTR plants and 4 warehouses. Our network of service locations spans from Vancouver Island to Quebec border. Kal Tire’s Mining Tire Group currently operates 35 mining locations in Canada, and operates in over 20 countries across 5 continents.
Due to a large training project that will take place throughout 2012 and 2013, we are seeking an experienced e-Learning Developer to join our Learning Development Team on a permanent basis, in Vernon, BC.
Joining a large team of training professionals, and reporting to the Manager, Learning Development, the e-Learning Developer is responsible for creating, developing and executing a series of e-learning modules that will be used by 1100 learners across Canada. The successful candidate will continually evaluate current training material to ensure they are aligned with Kal Tire’s core business needs, and will be an advocate and resource to help the organization meet its learning requirements. In addition to a strong e-learning development background, the ideal candidate will be comfortable delivering classroom training to groups of up to 20 adults.
Key Components of the role include:
- Partner and liaise with business units by using in-depth knowledge of Kal Tire business and best practices in adult learning to solve business challenges.
- Communicate effectively with internal customers, conduct needs analysis, identify learner performance gaps, make recommendations for creating/revising training modules.
- Able to convert highly technical processes into memorable e-Learning that engages learners.
- Achieve learning outcomes of training classes utilizing best practices in instructional design and adult learning methodologies.
- Create facilitator and participant learning materials utilizing Microsoft Powerpoint, Word, Excel, and/or Publisher.
- Measure the success of training programs by comparing desired outcomes to learner performance; summarize and communicate results to various Team Members and business units.
- Facilitate Training and other Learning Solutions with a demonstrated ability to align program objectives to current needs of organizational strategy, goals and company Aims.
- Facilitate technical and management development training sessions with energy and expertise using face-to-face and/or on-line (virtual) facilitation methods.
- Improve learner skill/performance through observation, feedback, and coaching.
Requirements for the role:
- A minimum of 5 years developing e-Learning modules.
- A minimum of 3 years facilitating classes for adult learners.
- Strong consulting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to learn complex technical material and turn it into short e-learning materials (portfolio of work required).
- Proficient in a variety of e-learning development tools including Adobe Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, Captivate, Premiere, After Effects, and Articulate.
- Proficient in virtual training tools including Adobe Connect and Web Ex.
- Post Secondary degree/diploma in Adult Education, Training, or Digital Media Design.
- CTP or CTDP designation preferred.
- Openness to occasional travel – up to 15% annual basis, increasing to 50% during 2013 to support project rollout.
- Availability to work occasional Saturdays.
