SAGE Publications, one of the worlds’s leading independent publishers of higher education academic content for classroom and library use has an exceptional opening for an Inside Sales Representative in our Textbook Sales Department based in our Thousand Oaks offices.
Sales Representatives interview faculty members at colleges and universities and assist them with matching our SAGE textbooks to their course requirements. Sales representatives service and sell to an established customer base and are responsible for continued revenue growth and new business development in the assigned territory to meet and exceed yearly sales goals. Successful representatives report competitive information and market trends to sales and marketing managers and identify prospective authors and reviewers to editorial staff.
The ideal candidate must have a 4 year degree with evidence of top achievement in both academic and professional background. A minimum of 2+ years professional experience is required; and we prefer candidates who can demonstrate results in needs-based selling and those who possess a keen interest in selling to the academic community. We are looking for individuals with superior ability to develop rapport, overcome objections and persuade within a highly competitive sales environment. The successful candidate must have the ability to develop and maintain lasting relationships with key decision makers, have superior computer proficiency, and possess strong interpersonal, organization and presentation skills. This is a demanding position often requiring more than 50 hours a week during key selling periods.
The successful candidate can expect to earn $50-70+K the first year, based on a starting salary in the low to mid 40K’s plus an annual bonus that adds up to $25K per year at goal, but could be higher based upon sales performance.
