SUMMARY/GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES
:
To serve as an electrical designer, performing design duties in support of the Guam Engineering Office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES JOB FUNCTIONS:

Acts as the designer on all electrical related design aspects of assigned projects assigned to insure design requirements are complete and to deliver complete project requirements, using AutoCAD and MS Office software.

Consults with engineers to discuss and interpret design concepts, and determine requirements of detailed working drawings.
·
Performs electrical design for new construction, renovation, and improvement projects for a variety of facilities, including utility systems.
Develops plans and specifications for:
electrical distribution, lighting, controls, fire alarm systems, and other systems that would normally be associated for use in facilities such as multi-story office buildings, housing areas, restaurants, warehouses, hospitals, communication buildings, and other structures.

Performs energy analyses, lighting studies, operational studies, and technical investigations to identify and select the best electrical systems for design projects.

Performs electrical engineering calculations to size and specify electrical system components.
·
Compiles and edits design specifications.
·
Coordinates with other engineering functions, environmental, safety, managers and staff elements.
·
Coordinates projects with other designers in other disciplines or with architects.
Applies knowledge of other disciplines to determine coordination effort required to address various design considerations.

Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
Observes that federal, state, and local codes concerning health, safety, and environment are adhered to in the programming, design and construction of facilities.

Keeps abreast of emerging technologies for programmed development.
Uses computers/computer software such as information management programs, computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) programs, and project tracking programs to solve engineering problems and facilitate work.
Keeps current on relevant software applications.

Researches code requirements and relays information to design team and design supervisor.
·
Reads and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
·
Assists engineers to implement operating procedures, design systems and provide technical information.
·
Researches and analyzes design requests, specifications and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs.
·
Performs other duties as assigned.
