Electronic Initiation System conversion technician Job in Sudbury P3l 1L5, Ontario Canada

To support the Canadian Electronic Initiation Systems (EIS) conversion process by utilizing past experience and learning to maximize the success rate of EIS conversions. The role is primarily focused on the ability to provide detailed product knowledge, conduct products trials, demonstrations and conversions, overcome performance issues and to train and hand over the EIS systems to Dyno Nobel Canada personnel, customers and end users.

 

The incumbent will work within Canada, located in Sudbury, Timmins or North Bay, Ontario, reporting directly to the Canadian EIS Conversion Manager.   Travel for this position is expected to be in the range of 60%.

Key Responsibilties

·         Provide product specialist knowledge and system application capability throughout the conversion process that begins with; the internal conversion of Dyno Nobel Canada staff, commitment to support the Dyno Nobel Canada staff and end users, resulting in successful and sustainable conversions to EIS at a customer site.

·         Provide Dyno Nobel Canada and end users with learning from previous experiences with electronic delay detonators particularly with regards to customer selection, conversion methodologies, value propositions and benefit studies etc.

·         Conduct all initial trials, demonstration and test blasts with the EIS (including upgrades to software of language modifications) as and when they come available.

·         Where possible, rectify specific technical difficulties, faults and underperformance of the system and report on and enter issues into the Dyno Nobel Canada “customer dissatisfaction report” system.

·         Provide accurate and informed feedback to control equipment and detonator product designers and developers to ensure continuous improvement in design.

·         Act as a key resource/technical resource for Canadian conversions.

·         Train and certify trainers/end users of EIS systems, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations and procedures relating to the use of the product.

·         Represent the face of Dyno Nobel Canada to customers and end users, ensuring that at all times a high level of credibility that enhances the value of the EIS brand.

Education:

 

Skills and Experience
·        
Minimum of 4 years practical experience in both surface and underground mining

·         Explosives or blasting engineering qualification would be beneficial e.g. Open Pit training or or Explosives engineering course

·         Experience in training methodologies would be an asset

·         Knowledge and experience in a wide range of mining applications – strong hands-on knowledge capability

·         Exhibit a high level of professionalism

·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

·         Ability to operate independently at remote sites and exhibit creative problem solving skills

·         Confident manner with above average writing and presentation skills

·         Strong self-starter driven by achieving results
