Location Chantilly, VA Security Clearance Required? Ability to Obtain Final Clearance (Pre Start) - US Citizenship Required about security clearance definitions Position Description Image scientist position requires understanding of imaging collection concepts, design, and maintenance. Also requires knowledge of image processing principles and the relationships between collection and processing. Ability to investigate image product errors, and identify probable cause sources throughout the collection, processing and delivery chain is required. Familiarity with tools and techniques necessary to isolate probable error sources is required. Requires familiarity with: Unix and Windows based workstations, various COTS packages including tools for product creation, modification and off-line analysis of image data. Understanding of collector calibration techniques (those necessary to maintain image quality) is desired. May require ability to help develop concept of operations for resolving analysis product quality issues, including a) the ability to train and direct other personnel in the investigation of such issues, and b) ability to propose solutions to such issues when possible. General Job Duties and Responsibilities: Assists in developing and documenting requirements for various communication, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components. Performs basic analysis to predict component performance to established requirements. Conducts simple tests to validate performance of designs to requirements. Collects data on supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements. Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle. Supports project management by gathering project status data. Gathers information to support development of sections of proposals to support development of new business. Works under close supervision. Basic knowledge of software development and testing tools (e.g., editors, compilers, linkers, desktop simulations, configuration management tools, requirements management tools) capability and usage. Basic ability to apply knowledge of database engines to the design of databases and reporting structures. Basic ability to integrate hardware and software components into a functional system.
