Energy Trading Strategist recruitment

• Provide daily analysis on power, gas, coal and carbon commodities for the trading and sales desks

• Solid knowledge of the drivers of the European power, gas, coal and carbon markets is essential.

• Constant communication with all relevant front office teams

• Provide short and long term price forecasts and suggest strategies for European power, coal, oil,  carbon and coal markets

• Provide analysis around the ‘power stack’ and the impact of a changing energy complex (oil, gas coal, carbon) on price. This includes trigger levels for fuel switching in power, gas, coal and carbon markets and the impact on the corresponding SnD factors

• Prepare daily research and commentary for external clients

• Analysis of changing correlations and volatility within the energy markets and the impact on position and hedge effectiveness.

• Production of detailed reports for senior management.

• Develop and take ownership for the design and build of the trading analytics research platform.

Personal specification

• Good exposure to energy trading or trading analysis and research within a trading house, hedge fund, investment bank or energy company

• Excellent communication skills due to the need to interact with external and internal clients

• Disciplined and organised approach to work with the ability to work within tight deadlines and under pressure. The applicant should be prepared to be flexible over working hours.

• The applicant will be providing real time data and strategies to the trading desks and so must have to take accountability for work delegated and ensure tasks are delivered in a timely and complete fashion.

• Enthusiastic approach to work with a willingness to create and evolve with changing processes.

• Excellent computer skills are essential, particularly Excel and VBA.
