Position Description

Enterprise Architect

Develops, maintains and governs the enterprise architecture (EA) across the organization. Assists in defining the EA process and architecture review process, and with the integration of those processes with related business and IT processes. Works with business and technology stakeholders and subject matter experts at all levels in the organization to perform other duties. · Develop and implement the enterprise architecture, including business architecture, information architecture, application portfolio and technical architecture. · Seek ways to apply new technology to, and reuse existing technology for enabling business value; research and provide information on technical trends and competitors' practices to relevant IT and business audiences. · Consult with project teams to fit projects to enterprise architecture, as well as to identify when it is necessary to modify the enterprise architecture to accommodate project needs. · Work with Project / Portfolio Management and other technology stakeholders to ensure implementation of roadmaps. · Understand, advocate and augment the principles of business and IT - and more specifically enterprise architecture (EA) - strategies. · Analyze enterprise business context (trends and business strategy) to derive technical architecture · Analyze the current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement. · "Sell" the enterprise architecture process, its outcome and ongoing results. · Define the principles that guide technology decisions for the enterprise. · Oversee and facilitate the evaluation and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards. · Identify the organizational impact (for example, on skills, processes, structures and culture) and financial impact of the enterprise architecture. · Seven to 10 years of experience in at least two IT disciplines in a client/server or service-oriented architecture (SOA) environment, including technical architecture, network design, application development, middleware, servers and storage, database management, and operations. · Exposure to multiple, diverse technical configurations, technologies and processing environments. · Exceptional interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation and negotiation. · Excellent analytical and technical skills, written and verbal communication skills, and planning and organizational skills. · Knowledge of all components of an enterprise architecture. · Understanding of network architecture, SOA, object oriented analysis and design. · Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations. · Ability to estimate the financial impact of enterprise architecture alternatives. · Ability to apply multiple technical solutions to business problems. · Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies.
