A new and exciting job opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant (Equities Product Control) to join a global company providing financial services specialising in Investment Banking, Wealth Asset Management.

The Financial Accountant (preferably with equity /control experience) to work as part of the Equities Prime Services Decision Support Team. This role is part of a 5person team, which is responsible for:

· Understanding and analysing the PL and Balance Sheet at the aggregated level.
• Providing consistent financial and management reporting for Global Prime Services
• Providing a consolidated daily global revenue and balance sheet report with value added commentary and analysis.
• Own the relationships with Business Management, GOF, Group Treasury, Tax, Audit, and Accounting Control.
• Coordinating new initiatives such as new accounting requirements and new business management mandates
• Managing the month end close process and the integrity of the financials.
• Forecasting monthly revenues
• Ad hoc projects driven by Finance and the Prime Services business management team

Core responsibilities of the role include:
• Preparation, analysis and reporting of daily PL and daily/monthly value added commentary as required.
• Interaction with Business Management, Product Control Line controllers, and GOF
• Recommending ways to improve information flow, PL reporting, and value to prime services equity management.
• Assisting with the monthly revenue forecast process
• Providing improved MIS to Business Management
• Providing weekly analytics to the business
• Eliminating inefficient processes

Monthly closing tasks include:
• Consolidating and writing regional commentaries for the month end management packs.
• Support Month on Month Financial Summaries through analysis and variance analysis
• Challenge the line in analytical review and consolidation on the month end financials
• Work to improve the month end management packs to help the business make better decisions
• Ad hoc requests and analysis

The business is fast moving and is growing in terms of size and complexity, thus requiring a proactive, dynamic, innovative and motivated individual to join the team and to quickly take on the above responsibilities. To add maximum value, the role will also require an understanding of and contribution to the other functions of the wider Product Control/Finance group.

Requirements

The role requires a strong working relationship with the Prime Services business, which is regarded as the primary client. Other internal clients include Line Product Controllers, Accounting Control, Financial Reporting, the regional senior management leads, and the Global Prime Services Head. A key objective of the role is to add value to the equity business in terms of clear analysis and commentary to help the business management team make better decisions in running the business.

The Equities Product Control Team has a strong teamwork ethic. The role requires a commitment to the support and development of individuals within the team and to work co-operatively with colleagues in the Equities Product Control team. As a member of the Finance Control function, there is a strong emphasis on supporting the bottom line results. Contribution takes the form of eliminating control weaknesses, enhancing cost control and process efficiency and contributing to the overall profitability of the equity business.

The role requires strong product and process knowledge. Appropriate training is provided through on-the-job and formal training programmes. Once completed, the candidate is expected to apply this knowledge in controlling the equity business and furthering the client, people and economic objectives of the Equities Product Control team.

• Accounting or audit experience, preferably in the banking sector
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access). Knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required and knowledge of Business Objects would be helpful
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills essential
