Equity Research Analyst – Long/Short Hedge Fund – London
An expansive West London based Equity Hedge Fund backed by a major top-tier Investment Bank is looking to add an Equity Long-Short Analyst to their team. The right candidate will have Equity experience on the buy-side at either a Hedge Fund or large Asset Manager?s and will be expected to hit the ground running with direct investment research from the beginning.
You will be sat on the same desk and analysing and gathering research directly to the Fund Manager who is a renowned Equity Portfolio Manager with a strong track record.
Key Day-to-Day Responsibilities of the role:
• The fund operates long-short equities and event-special situations using bottom-up fundamental research.
• As you will be sat with the Equity Fund Manager, you will be recommending investment strategies directly to the portfolio manager for large scale investments.
• You will be conducting due diligence through close analysis of large-cap company management teams to further knowledge of company strategies.
• You will be responsible to assist with all aspects of idea generation, risk management and factor exposure, and so a meticulous approach is very important
• One of the key responsibilities is to meet with potential and current investors to outline the Hedge Fund?s Equity investment strategy and top performing positions in my sectors.
• Your strategy will be to focus on bottom-up fundamental analysis regarding individual value-based investments.
It is important to mention that this will be the second time in 2012 that the Hedge Fund have looked to take on an Equity Research Analyst due to very good performance recently. Analysts will therefore be required to show a strong track record from previous Hedge Funds operating in both a long-short and long-only strategy.

• Experienced and have a strong command of Equity Research of both long and short with experience in a Hedge Fund
• Able to show a minimum of two years on the buyside concentrating on equities
• Rigorous and fundamental with their bottom-up stock picking approach
• A Generalist equity analyst with main focus upon the European and Global Markets
• Well educated with a University degree of at least a 2.1 from a top-tier University
• Key skills required include financial modeling, industry and product analyst alongside report writing
• Experienced within equity stock picking and providing investment ideas
• Qualified with further financial certificates, including MBA, Masters in Finance related subject or CFA preferred- or equivalent work experience
• Able to demonstrate excellent written, communication, presentation as well as collaboratively within a team environment
