Estimating Lead


Overview:

 Pyramid Process Fabricators is seeking an Estimating Lead to lead the Estimating department and processes. The individual in this position will be responsible for overseeing and preparing cost estimates for product manufacturing, construction projects, or services to aid management in bidding on or determining price of product or service. The individual may also specialize according to particular service performed or type of product manufactured.

 

Duties Responsibilities:

·         Support, participate in, and help drive overall safety program, safety awareness, and safety targets.

·         Be responsive to all project requirements and requests from your direct supervisor.

·         The ability to lead a team in the preparation of estimates for major projects, and provide direction to estimators in preparation of estimate.

·         Cooperate with and coordinates activities with other departments that contribute to the estimating process.

·         Supervise Junior/Intermediate Estimators in the preparation of estimates; Mentor, coach and develop direct reports, and provides daily direction to estimators.

·         Responsible for reviewing client tender packages in their entirety and understanding clearly the scope of work, technical/specification requirements, delivery requirements and commercial requirements, and responsible for developing the written quotation to the project manager in an organized and professional manner and logging of client tenders in quote log.

·         Use in-house software programs to process material take-off information; timely develop labor, material and 3rd party estimates associated with the scope of work in accordance with the Pyramid estimating procedure and WBS, and review the estimate with the project manager prior to formal submission to the client.

·         Establish estimating parameters, factors, productivity, and craft mix based on analysis of other Pyramid Process projects, highlight and bring to the attention of the project manager any concerns identified in the tender package which would affect the ability of PPF to successfully complete the project.

·         Responsible for preparing Project Work Packages (PWP) for handover to projects group upon receipt of purchase order and leading the associated project kick-off meeting.

·         Document estimate build-up and communicate details effectively to internal clients, and respond to all client bid clarifications.

·         Assist in determining bid strategies, preparing requests for quotations and solicit third party/vendors for competitive pricing to satisfy client specifications and requirements.

·         Work with project managers to complete cost estimates for scope changes/trends.

·         Responsible for working closely with all departments in the preparation of project information required by all departments required for the success of all projects.

·         Working closely with the Engineering Department to ensure all necessary information is being implemented into the project design and scope.

·         Working closely with the Planning Department and Operations Department to ensure scheduling information and project milestones are identified, clearly communicated, and regularly monitored. Work closely with these departments to ensure all productivity targets are being identified, monitored, and achieved. Preparation of mitigation plans if not.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

·         Background in a fabrication, manufacturing, or construction environment is essential.

·         Sound experience in detailed estimating techniques based on well-defined work break down structures, as opposed to simplified percentages.

·         Strong blue print reading skills with the ability to read and understand PID’s for process packages and to develop preliminary information sufficient to develop a project estimate.

·         Must have the ability to perform pressure vessel sizing, nozzle calculations, piping and valve sizing.

·         Strong time management skills and ability to handle a multitude of tasks.

·         Good computer skills, especially in the use of MS Office.

·         Strong commitment to safety.

·         Self-motivated, organized and able to work in high pressure, deadline driven environment.

 

Education:

 

·         Degree in engineering, engineering technology, or appropriate level of certification and/or combined experience.
