The Global Gas business is a relatively new venture, trading in LNG and Natural Gas, primarily from London and Geneva and provides the incumbent with a unique opportunity to join this dynamic and fast growing business.
The Product Controller will work closely with the EMEA Nat Gas and LNG traders and fellow CFO team members. The Product Controller will play an active role within the organization and the role will provide the individual with an opportunity to grow within the organization both by training less experienced people, providing insightful analysis and working with the senior management of the Global Gas business.
Responsibilities:
PL Reporting and Analysis
- Report independent PL daily whilst challenging traders on their own pl assessments;
- Build PL reporting tools including attribution analysis;
- Develop insightful and value added analysis for senior management;
- Calculate and report economic vs US GAAP storage adjustment daily.
Control Environment
- Perform pricing checks (i.e. Benchmark vs Heren, Summer/Winter spreads) and submit end of month TOTEM Reporting;
- Design and implement robust control processes, workflows and checks;
- Reconcile month-end general ledger PL to trading risk system PL;
- Complete month end balance sheet reconciliations.
Business Development and Improvement
- Assist operations and front office with position reporting and other ad hoc requests;
- Project work including system upgrades and associated testing.
Skills/Knowledge:
Required:
- Extensive European Nat Gas product control experience (including solid understanding of physical and virtual Storage, Transport and Structured gas deals)
- Solid understanding of the EMEA gas market
- Self-starter with a proven ability to deliver results in a high-stakes environment
- Ability to communicate with peers and management in a clear, concise manner
- High level of proficiency in Excel
- Experience in daily interaction with heads of desks and traders
- Accurate, diligent and demonstrable track record of improvements and analysis in product control area
- VBA code
Preferred:
- LNG product control experience
- Proficiency in Access and SQL
