SUMMARY

Develops all start-up, strategic initiatives of the Buffalo Arts and Technology Center in support of organizational goals as determined by the Board of Directors in conjunction with the Executive Director by performing the following duties.  Through the Board Chair, this position reports to the Board of Directors, whose approval is sought for major decisions.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

¨          Provides for the development and implementation of business, strategic and marketing plans with goals and objectives for the Center’s programs.

 

¨          Ensures fiduciary responsibility, sound financial management practices and accountability to the Board of Directors, funding organizations, and the public at large. 

 

¨          Provides for the development of financial resources sufficient to meet the needs of the organization.  Leads fundraising activities and provides guidance for further financial development. 

 

¨          Develops and maintains a wide array of partnerships and collaborations with funding entities, government agencies, businesses and community leaders.

 

¨          Determines the direction of programming and develops the corresponding curriculum and partnerships necessary, as well as the appropriate staff and faculty.

¨          Hires and directs management for the development, production, promotion, and financial aspects of the organization's products, services and programs.

 

¨          Directs the preparation of short-term and long-term plans and budgets based on broad organizational goals and growth objectives.

 

¨          Establishes policies to ensure adequate management development and provides for effective management succession.

 

¨          Ensures that all organizational activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations, including filing for 501©(3) status.

 

¨       Oversees commercial real estate development functions including acquisition, finance, appraisal, design and lease or purchase negotiations.

 

¨       Oversees recruitment, orientation and education for youth and adult students.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly hires and supervises executive officers and managers.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree required in the liberal arts, education or business management, with a minimum of 10 years of progressive mid- and senior-level organizational management experience, preferably in a non-profit environment; Masters degree or higher education level preferred, or a comparable combination of education and practical experience.  Demonstrated knowledge, experience and ability in fiscal development and management, strategic planning, program development, human resource management, and public relations.  Ability to accurately compile reports, budgets, and projections.  Possesses a working knowledge of common business software packages.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Mathematical Skills.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as commissions, proportions, percentages, area, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic accounting procedures. 

 

Communication Skills.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret advanced professional journals, financial reports, and business documents.  Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from executive and board level associates, community leaders, and other professional affiliates.  Capable of structuring the delivery of information to the needs of the audience, which may include board members, funders, directors, managers, staff, business associates and students.
