Executive Director Job Description

 

 

Job Summary: The Executive Director shall be hired by and be responsible to the Board of Directors. The Executive Director shall be responsible for carrying out the policies set by the Board and for overseeing all business of the organization. The Executive Director is responsible for identifying programs, projects, products, and services that are necessary for the organization to accomplish its mission. The Executive Director is responsible for identifying and securing funding necessary to implement these programs and projects. He/she, along with the accounting firm prepares and presents an annual budget to the Board for review. He/she is responsible for overseeing all fiscal operations of the organization. The Executive Director is responsible for interfacing with any and all necessary public and private officials as pertains to the business of the organization. The Executive Director is responsible for all recruiting and hiring for the agency.

 

·         Implements the policies of the Board

·         Identifies programs, projects, products, and services that will help the organization achieve its mission

·         Works with the Board and staff to establish long-range plans for the organization

·         Establishes internal policies and procedures for personnel

·         Signs all legal documents as authorized by the Board

·         Identifies and secures funding necessary for the organization’s business

·         Assists in developing job descriptions for all staff

·         Conducts an annual performance appraisal of all direct report personnel

·         Serves as primary spokesperson and representative of the organization

·         Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Directors

 

Qualification Requirements:

A.    A Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or any other Mental Health related field. Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge may be substituted for educational requirements.

B.     Three years minimum experience in alcohol, tobacco, other drug prevention, or other mental health related field.

C.     Three years supervisory experience and experience in general program administration preferred.

D.    A proven track record in fundraising, event planning and grant writing preferred.

E.     Strong verbal and written communication skills and public speaking.

F.     Increasing NCADD’s visibility and influence with legislators, mental health agencies, general public to further educate our vision and mission.

G.    Success at fundraising development, including knowledge of and success in attracting foundation corporate grants; ability to identify, steward and solicit individual donors.
