They are a highly respected fund of fund manager. They have a strong reputation for delivery of high quality investment research to their clients and have achieved excellent results over the years.

The role
As part of the ongoing investment analysis process, it is crucial that the firm is able to determine whether a manager has veered from their stated investment style or the investment manager's corporate entity has changed for any reason. You will have special responsibility to highlight possible problems before they actually occur when the manager's style is found to have changed. You will be a key participant and assist the investment team when decisions are being made regarding the merits of an investment manager versus another investment manager. Your aanalysis of portfolio activity / investment behaviour will lead to the development of new techniques. Specifically the role involves:
* Monitoring allocated asset classes / investment managers you will undertake analysis including fundamental analysis of individual investment portfolios as well as how they combines as part of multi-manager packages for the purposes of understanding of the investment manager's investment decision making process.
* Gaining an in depth understanding of fund managers' investment disciplines and portfolio characteristics and investment activities, using a fact based approach throughout.
* Determining whether the features of, and activity within, the investment portfolios are consistent with the investment managers' stated investment disciplines and objectives identifying inconsistencies.
* Identifying and presenting investment issues for discussion at regular manager monitoring meetings derived from the portfolio analysis.
* Deep analysis of multi-manager investment packages, including fundamental features of aggregate portfolio. This will also involve liaison with investment managers and loading data onto systems.
* Compilation of investment commentaries for the allocated asset classes/investment managers to be included in investment reports, discussing the key issues arising from analysis of the investments and the fund manager's activities.
* Assessing portfolio risk (relative, absolute, tracking error etc.) including active exposures within the portfolio as well as analysis of historic investment results including detailed performance attribution as well as news on portfolio holdings.
* Organising meetings with investment managers.
* Gaining knowledge of personnel and corporate changes and their probable impact on management of the portfolio.
* When appropriate, you will provide analytical support to the investment manager research process including include gathering qualitative and quantitative information, performing detailed portfolio analysis of sample/model portfolios and assessing their consistency with the manager's stated investment approach, preparing and presenting investment analytics/meeting papers prior to research meetings, attending research meetings when necessary.

Who they are looking for|
To be considered for this role you will:
* Need to have a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role,

* Need previous investment experience in a fund management organisation or consulting firm and Working experience of fundamental analysis
* Need an educational background in investments and/or finance (CFA qualification would be an advantage), with a fundamental knowledge of portfolio theory, security analysis and equity related instruments; in the absence of any formal qualification an individual with deep relevant experience would also be considered
* Need to be highly numerate and be a good spoken and written communicator, as well as having a flexible attitude
* Need strong understanding of fundamental investment ratios/statistics/analytics e.g. P/E, P/B, ROE, liquidity analysis
* Need an understanding of investment styles, their nuances and how they mix in a multi-manager package would be a plus
