Introduction

            State Street Global Markets Currency Management is a $140 billion currency manager and growing rapidly.  The Currency Management team seeks a dynamic, motivated, and creative team member to assist with the growing needs of the business through performance analytics.   

 

Reporting to the Head of Performance Analytics, the Performance Measurement Analyst will work closely with front office, research, product development, marketing, and clients to provide measurement, attribution, and evaluation of our active and passive currency offerings.  The analyst would take ownership of performance reporting and research for a subset of Currency Management clients.  They would be expected to communicate directly with clients to provide reports as well as research and answer questions as they arise.  Additionally, the analyst will be expected to understand the code behind our fully automated performance analytics system.

 

This role is critical to the business as it provides highly customized performance reports and analysis directly to clients.  The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of financial concepts, FX derivatives, modern portfolio theory, and mathematics and also have basic programming knowledge.  Excellent analytical and communication skills are critical, as this role requires significant client and cross-functional interaction.

 

Responsibilities
• Calculate monthly performance for passive and active currency products using Excel and VBA based models

• Develop and maintain proprietary performance attribution and decomposition models

• Create automated and scalable performance models in Excel and VBA to increase reporting capacity

• Debug customized Excel/VBA and Access/Oracle programs and research data issues from various sources when processes break down

• Understand the underlying code of our new performance analytics system based on C# and Oracle Database, and debug existing systems whenever necessary

• Provide periodic and ad-hoc performance presentations to existing clients

• Deliver presentations on performance product offering to prospective clients

• Participate in regular client performance calls and meetings

• Assist other functions of the team (management, business development), with various research projects as needed

 

• Quantitative background (BA/BS in Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Math, Engineering)

• Strong Excel skills, with experience in using advanced formulas and features

• Familiar with VBA, SQL and C# or willingness to learn them

• 0 - 2 years of experience in a quantitative role (performance analytics, finance, information technology, programming, consulting)

• Experience in using Oracle and Access databases and using SQL queries

 • Well organized, flexible, and able to work independently as well as in a team environment on multiple projects simultaneously

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, attention to detail and quality of output to clients
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, must be able to fully comprehend client questions and articulate relevant answers
