GLOBAL PRODUCT MANAGER – UCITS INSTITUTIONAL FDI ASSET MANAGEMENT recruitment

 Main function of this job:

A Product Manager is sought to work within the Product team to support the business in maintaining the future growth and continued success of the product range.

The Product Delivery team is responsible for both product management and product development of the pooled products. Regular product management activities may include reviewing and updating fund regulatory documents, and providing support to the Irish and Cayman fund board reporting process. The business would look to the Product Manager for support covering all aspects of product management, although the majority of the Product Manager’s remit would be focused on product development. The Product Manager would work closely with all areas of the business to implement and project manage fund development initiatives as required, including new fund launches, fund restructuring, and developing the product terms as may be appropriate for various institutional and wholesale distribution channels.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  1. Provide support to the new product approval process and lead specific projects through this process.
  2. Coordinate advice to the distribution and investment teams on the considerations for product change implementation, including requirements of regulatory jurisdictions such as Ireland and Cayman Islands and potential operational efficiencies and issues.
  3. Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business to effectively implement the product change agenda.
  4. Maintain and manage the product range, ensuring all regulatory and commercial requirements are met.
  5. Assist in providing technical expertise to the investment and sales teams. This may include updating the business as to important regulatory changes impacting the product range, such as UCITS IV; reviewing fund marketing collateral / RFPs; and accompanying the sales team to meet with clients to explain pooled product terms.

Accountabilities:

  1. Help coordinate product management across all asset classes and all functions including manufacturing, distribution and infrastructure.
  2. Act as a contact point for issues and queries arising through the new product development process for designated product change initiatives.
  3. Assist with the governance approval process for new products.
  4. In conjunction with manufacturing, distribution, and infrastructure teams, prepare the necessary product change documentation and business case for certain submissions to the  New Product and New Instrument Approval Committee.
  5. Work with all areas of the business to help resolve product related issues.
  6. Assist in ensuring a transparent and consistent process is in place across to evaluate and quantify the business case for all product change initiatives.

Job Dimensions:

The product range covers varied asset classes including Capital Markets, Alternatives (commodities funds and fund of hedge funds), Private Equity, Real Estate, and Focus Funds.

Assets are managed on both a pooled and segregated basis. In addition to assisting the business in the development of new pooled vehicles and any changes to pooled vehicles, the Product Delivery team coordinates the approval process.

The Product Delivery team also coordinates the registration of funds in foreign jurisdictions and related distribution arrangements.

  Decision-making authority:

The Product Manager will support the Head of Product Delivery in coordinating the relevant governance approval process, which will include functional sign-offs across the business.

Candidate Profile:

  1. The successful candidate will be a member of a product development team for an investment manager, and as such will have experience and knowledge of fund structures and regulatory requirements across a range of jurisdictions for institutional investors.
  2. The candidate will have an awareness of operational, reputational, and investment risk and the ways in which these can be mitigated through the implementation and effective ongoing maintenance of new products and product change initiatives.
  3. The candidate will be commercially-minded and aware of market trends and activity.
  4. The successful candidate will be proactive and keen, with an ability to show initiative.
  5. Organised and with an ability to multi-task. The successful candidate will be required to implement several initiatives at a time.
  6. The candidate will have excellent communication skills and experience of managing the implementation of projects involving different stakeholders.

Experience required:

  1. Financial services product development or product management background and experience is essential.
  2. Exposure to UCITS III/IV products is essential.
  3. Familiarity with Irish fund regulatory requirements is essential.
  4. Project planning and implementation skills are essential.
  5. The ability to network and build relationships is essential.
  6. A good understanding of the fund uses and risks associated with FDIs would be desirable.
  7. Experience of Irish fund board reporting would be useful.
  8. Knowledge of fund registrations and listing requirements in other jurisdictions would be useful.

Skills and knowledge:

  1. Track record in a product delivery function is the most important requirement.
  2. Professional qualification e.g. IMC, CFA, is desirable.
