Head of Investment Accounting

An exciting new role has arisen for a high calibre, qualified accountant in a London based Financial Services business. Working closely with the Investment and Accounting financial teams the role holder will report to the Chief Accountant and will be accountable for the control and reporting of assets and investment income.

This is a high profile role and will involve providing oversight of the external fund accounting function and would be the recipient of the reports, and would liaise with the provider overseeing any investigation resolution. This will ensure that the financial reporting provides a timely and accurate picture of the investments on the balance sheet and profit and loss accurately reflects the Investment Office activity.
Key responsibilities include:
To be responsible for day to day delivery of investment accounting related services valuation reporting.
To explain period on period (e.g. monthly) changes in valuation, and to investigate unexplained areas in Investment profit and loss.  
Working closely with the Investment Office to understand the sensitivities of the assets to movements in rates, credit spreads, FX, etc.
To work together with the junior accountant based elsewhere in the UK to ensure that all Fund Accounting and Custody position and valuation records, including the cash position, are reconciled weekly and in future daily
Verification of Asset Manager performance reporting, and fees.
To assist the Group Chief Accountant with other activities outside of the Investment Accounting remit, for example group reporting.
 
Competencies required, we are seeking candidates that have
§         Qualified Accountant, with a minimum 5 years in banking, asset manager experience in fund accounting.
§         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
§         Sound analytical and problem solving skills
