Job Description
BCF is seeking a Head of Portfolio Management to assist in the oversight and refinement of its multiple investment processes. This position will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer of BCF and will work closely with the investment teams to ensure that the quality of investment decision-making is at the highest level. The position will be based either in Chicago, Charlotte, New York City or Springfield, with coverage responsibility for all locations including Europe and Asia Pacific.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in investment committee discussions with the intent of bringing a portfolio-wide perspective to decision-making
- Assist in the identification and assessment of all sources of risk, including market, credit, legal, operational and business risks to ensure that the overall risk profile is managed in such a way as to optimize returns and the use of capital in keeping with the risk appetite and risk management guiding principles
- Collaborate with the investment teams to create appropriate risk measurements and portfolio guidelines to help better understand and manage this risk
- Develop credit exposure methodologies in conjunction with risk analysis systems
- Gather, maintain and analyze internal and external data to support risk analysis, control and reporting
- Deliver information/tools to help businesses compete more effectively (e.g. portfolio risk metrics, portfolio optimization and decision-support tools)
- Provide portfolio analysis and reporting to the BCF Board of Directors, CEO, other senior management on a regular basis
- Establish standardized and efficient management and administrative procedures to ensure adherence to policies; periodic review and re-evaluation of said policies to ensure adequacy and effectiveness
- Monitor and manage the businesses’ credit exposure within portfolios; set and monitor risk appetite/limits
Requirements
- 10 – 15 years of credit and portfolio risk experience operating in a senior capacity at a major financial institution
- Comprehensive background in leverage finance, with a broad knowledge of industries and sectors and macroeconomic fundamentals

- Proven leader with excellent oral and written communications skills and ability to work across multiple areas of the business
- Ability to communicate clearly with investors, other senior managers, regulators and auditors on a variety of topics affecting the organization
- Technical skills with regard to economic capital, technical pricing, measurement of risk metrics and capital management
- Capability to excel in a team-driven environment
- Regular travel, including internationally will be required
