JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:  House Supervisor                                           

Department:  Adult Residential Programs                                                   

General Responsibilities


Provides direct supervision to residential aides and shift supervisors, responsible for environmental aspects of homes, including the cleanliness of homes and vehicles as well as their safety.  Functions as an on-call supervisor.  Maintains primary responsibility for scheduling of residential staff, including the maintenance of Kronos and attendance module as well as the monitoring of staff needs in a cost effective and efficient manner.


Essential Duties:
        

  1. Maintains active presence in residential homes, and is regularly engaged with clients and employees.
  2. Maintains knowledge of resident protocols and individual needs.
  3. Ensures that environment, clothing and personal possessions are in order for all residents of the home, including admissions, discharges, and transitions.
  4. Oversees systems related to the personal appearance and hygiene of residents, including but not limited to shaving, nail care and haircuts.
  5. Plans and oversees appropriate recreational activities in the home, campus, and community, including but not limited to house activities, birthdays celebrations, community outings, camp, and resident vacations.
  6. Communicates with the families regarding each individual’s need for clothing and personal possessions, and obtains permission for the use of residents’ personal funds.
  7. Maintains staffing schedules, including filling call-outs and vacation requests, completing staffing payroll functions, ensuring regulatory ratios, and monitoring the use of overtime.
  8. Assumes responsibility for the interviewing and hiring of staff, on-site orientation, and providing corrective action as appropriate.
  9. Provides immediate feedback and training to staff regarding their performance as related to environmental cleanliness and safety, resident care, attendance, and adherence to Melmark’s policies and procedures.
  10. Participates in meetings with residential staff and Program Specialist to relay information to staff and receive feedback regarding the needs of the program.
  11. Completes employee evaluations in a timely manner.
  12. Ensures that programs meet all physical site regulations required by the Department of Public Welfare 6400 regulations.  Participates in licensing surveys.  Completes fire drills and fire safety trainings and maintains a compliant fire safety log as required by the 6400 regulations.
  13. Assumes primary responsibility for supplies, cleanliness, safety, maintenance, and appearance of the homes.
  14. Responsible for van/vehicle systems and reporting of any van/vehicle incidents to the appropriate personnel.
  15. Assumes responsibility for petty cash system and all related paperwork.
  16. Ensures rotation of 24-hour supervisory on-call system and responds in a timely fashion.
  17. Provides direct care services as needed including covering for staff breaks and assisting with trips and shopping.
  18. Works collaboratively and effectively with other departments.
  19. All other reasonable duties as assigned by Supervisors.


Basic Qualifications


Education/Training:
   Bachelor’s degree preferred.  High School diploma required.  


Certifications/Licensure:
A valid US driver’s license with a minimum of two years driving experience and the ability to meet approved Melmark driver status.  Successful completion of employer provided certification in CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention and Medication Administration Certification.


Skill(s):
  Working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office.  Strong interpersonal skills are an asset.


Experience:
  A minimum of one (1) year experience in a related field preferred.
