ITT Exelis is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our Geospatial Systems - Precision Instruments and Positioning, Navigation and Timing Team (PI/PNT) in Bloomfield, NJ (30 Minutes West of NYC). The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for generalist activities and support working for the Senior Human Resources Manager. This position will provide human resources support for programs and initiatives in employment, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, HRIS, training and development, special events, incentive programs, EEO and Affirmative Action.

Essential Functions and Position Responsibilities:
This individual will be the first line of contact for human resources related work and customer service. The position will analyze information, approve requests and advise clients in areas involving employee relations and human resources policies. Other critical areas supported by this position are: benefits support, data transactions, compensation, training and development, and lead project tasks for the human resources function. The work involves a high level of contact and collaboration with employees and management at all levels within the location. This position will work independently and at the direction of the Senior Human Resources Manager. Ability to manage basic programs and initiatives, utilize strong problem solving skills to reach value added resolutions, and to exercise frequent independent discretion and judgment will be critical.
*6-8 years of combined Human Resources Generalist and Human Resources Administration experience required.
*Previous experience supporting employee relations, benefits, compensation, or training for an exempt and non-exempt employee base greater than 300 staff.
*Prior experience working with an HRIS system required.
*Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Human Resources required.
*Strong MS Office, Excel and PowerPoint Required.
*U. S. Citizenship required.
*Willingness and ability to travel 25% of the time, with surges up to 45%.
*Previous human resources experience working for a Government Contractor desired.
*PHR or Formal Human Resources Education a plus.
