Our team in Port Arthur, TX is looking to add an individual who has professional experience (or a keen interest) in initiating change and finding long term solutions to ongoing problems. As you help to guide Instrument and Electrical Reliability, you will have an opportunity to take your career to the next level. You will demonstrate your ability to own the development of maintenance strategies and otherwise provide the instrument and electrical engineering technical Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) support for major equipment.
Your primary responsibilities will include the following:
- Perform root cause failure analysis (RCFA) on equipment failures
- Recommend corrective actions on instrumentation and electrical equipment that has failed
- Scope corrective actions on equipment found to be deficient
- Provide oversight for acceptance testing of hardware, and software for new DCS or PLC’s installations
- Oversee the field construction, verification of proper installation, performing loop checks and the oversight of final commissioning of instrumentation and electrical equipment associated with capital or maintenance projects
- Suggest and develop project management and repair optimization strategies
- Provide ownership to one or more electrical reliability programs for a specific type of equipment (i.e., distribution assets or motors) including purchasing specs, repair quality standards and reliability strategies
- Develop risk assessments and long-term plans for critical equipment
- Lead the development and implementation of reliability strategies for critical plant electrical equipment using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and standards for preventative/predictive maintenance (PM/PdM)
- Lead the development and implementation of PM programs for general purpose equipment.
- Comply with process Safety Management and Process Hazard Analysis requirements
- Advise and assist on-site electricians, instrument technicians, planners and supervisors on electrical and/or instrument repairs.
- Provide selection and specification of new electrical and instrument equipment on capital projects, participate as a technical adviser on capital projects and turnarounds
WORK EXPERIENCE SKILLS REQUIRED:
- At least 5 years of Engineering experience
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of the engineering documents associated with instrumentations such as: PIDs, loop sheets, specification sheets, writing diagrams, Electrical one lines logic diagrams, installation detail drawings, etc.
- Solid understanding of field instrumentation and associated technologies
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- BS degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
WORK EXPERIENCE SKILLS PREFERRED:
- 5 years of Instrument or Electrical Engineering experience
- 5 years of refinery or process industry experience
- Complete understanding of field construction, sequence of events, how to track progress, how to verify proper installation
- Complete understanding of interlocking shutdown systems and permissive start-up systems
- Experience with medium (2.3KV) to high (34KV) voltage
- DCS experience
- Experience with one or more of the following:
· Applied Automation Gas Chromatographs
· ABB Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS)
· Ametek/Thermox and Servomex O2 analyzers
· Ametek/Western Research Air Demand Analyzers (ADA)
· Rosemount pH meters
