Overview : Ross University School of Medicine, Advanced Introduction to Medicine (AICM) invites applications for a Junior Faculty position. This is a temporary position offered on a one-year basis and subject to satisfactory performance. The assignement consist of three 15 week blocks. Employment may be extended to an additional semester or semesters based on Program needs, junior faculty availability and satisfactory performance. Our mission is to prepare highly dedicated students to become effective, successful physicians in the United States. Education is the primary focus of the junior faculty. The academic year is divided into three semesters with a new class of students admitted each semester. Teaching and other responsibilities continue throughout the year. An effective simulation coordinator is sought, particularly an individual who is interested in improving medical education and who work well on a team. Research opportunities exist and are encouraged in the area of medical education. Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Assist Program faculty and staff in all areas of AICM instruction and other activities as assigned. These areas include, but are not limited to, test question design, proctoring exams, instructing students on Physical Examination techniques, providing guidance on history-taking, write-ups, SOAP notes, PowerPoint presentations, participating in grading process as directed, and other activities as assigned. Candidates are expected to be available Monday through Sunday as needed, evenings included. Every effort is made to allow for one day off weekly but this is subject to Program needs. Candidates are required to attend training sessions and to become skilled in participating in evaluating student performance in various required aspects of AICM as assigned. It is expected that they will progress in their ability to conduct small group sessions with increasingly less supervision. Candidates will participate in guiding students in their ALF assignments. They will serve as mentors to a cohort of students, maintaining close communication with each student and providing guidance in all aspects of their performance, including following up with clinical sites. Qualifications : Must be a graduate of Ross University School of Medicine Must have the M.D. degree and completion of all rotations Satisfactory or better grade in 5th semester Preferably, fifth semester was completed in South Florida Satisfactory or better grades in all subsequent activities undertaken as RUSM student, including satisfactory or better performance on NBME qualifying exams. Excellent communication skills in English. Strong teaching skills and experience or evidence of potential. Desire for self improvement Flexibility and ability to work well on a team.
