KP HealthConnect (Epic) Inpatient Project Manager

Several years ago, Kaiser Permanente embarked on an ambitious project (KP HealthConnect) to implement an electronic health record system (EHR) and operating platform that improved the quality of healthcare delivered to their members. Working in partnership with Epic, Kaiser Permanente has invested billions of dollars in the KP HealthConnect EHR system which enables clinical staff to access to relevant health care information; and optimizes scheduling, registration, billing and coding. Internet capability offers patients access to their medical information and the ability to send and receive secure messages to clinicians. Additional functionality includes enterprise wide operational reporting. This project management position requires an individual contributor to lead large projects within the Inpatient Suite of applications. Reporting to the Manager Inpatient Quality and Project Management, this position will have enterprise wide responsibility for managing both funded and core projects. A minimum of 6 years healthcare industry or information technology experience is required. Experience with Epic's suite of products is preferred. Well rounded set of project management experience is needed in order to lead complex projects or multiple projects of moderate complexity. This employee must be a team player, with strong interpersonal and written communication skills as well as people management skills. Essential Functions: - Manages complex projects or multiple projects of moderate complexity - Total managed project up to $10 million budget - Scope of work encompasses multiple business units and may span across multiple portfolios - Understands and consistently meets project stakeholder expectations within scope of project role by responding promptly to client/stakeholder inquiries - Demonstrates knowledge and use of change management process. - Responsible for accurate time reporting for project work they are leading - Manages tracking of interdependencies across multiple sub-projects - Demonstrates understanding of and applies knowledge in all phases of the project delivery life cycle - Accountable for coordination of collection and validation of business requirements Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or 4 years of equivalent work experience. - A minimum of 6 years of experience in project management. - 6 years minimum in inpatient healthcare arena or information technology experience. - Strong communication and organization skills. - Proficiency in customer client relations including team focus, influence, partnership and collaboration. - Leverages knowledge and prior business experience to develop and present rational conclusions, recommendations and implementation strategies and plans. - Responsible for measuring and reporting budget and status through measurable metrics for assigned scope. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with KP HealthConnect - Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute preferred. Identifies individuals who can competently practice as a project manager leading and directing project tasks. - Must maintain certification with Kaiser Permanente Information Technology's Project Management Academy per program requirements. - Able to use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
