MECHANICAL ENGINEER

£26,200 P/A

HALIFAX, WEEKEND SHIFT. (Fri/Sat/Sun nights, Sat/Sun days rotation)

Our client is a leading food manufacturing company both in the UK and globally. Due to continuous expansion to their site they are looking to strengthen their engineering / production teams and are now looking for a number of Mechanical Engineers/Technicians.

Within the role of Technician/Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for working on the production line by running the machines and also conducting reactive and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on all equipment on the production line and the area you are working in, as well as conducting all change overs and setting up of the equipment.

You will be the first point of call for all maintenance in the production environment. As the most technical person on the production line, people will look to you for guidance whenever there is problems with the machines and the production lines. You will assist the sites other Technicians and Engineers on major breakdowns or project work as and when it is required. You will also be responsible for production work on the line, health safety (HS), quality of the product and responsible for improving process'. Any exposure to continuous improvement or continuous improvement techniques (LEAN, DMAIC, 5S, 5Y, Sig Sigma ect) would be hugely beneficial.

The ideal candidate for the Mechanical Engineer role will be qualified to city and guilds level 2 in Mechanical Engineering or above and have completed a full engineering apprenticeship. You will also need the certificates to prove this before offers are made. You will also ideally have experience working as a Mechanical Technician, Engineer or Mechanical Engineer. Experience on equipment such as conveyors, baggers, wrappers, dunkers, flow wrappers, twist wrappers, hoppers, labellers etc would also be very advantageous to this role.
