Under general supervision, provides administration of Local and Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN). Responsible for maintaining the physical network, file servers, desktop and laptop workstations and applications, and training the users on the use of the network and Personal Computer (PC) applications.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
1. Configure, maintain, upgrade and support all workstations, peripherals and laptops at required internal and commercial software revision levels and configurations per specified Johnson Controls standards.
2. Research, develop and implement a File Server Disaster Recovery Plan for the Area including initial risk analysis and develop documentation for assigned systems. Design and implement a plan to avoid loss of use of field IT hardware, infrastructure and data. Define and support backup procedures for all Area desktop and laptop users. Ensure backup and recovery options are communicated to each Area employee.
3. Respond and resolve user IT problems and system integrity issues. Coordinate resources to perform repairs, including warranty repair work.
4. Anticipate and provide training in the use of PC workstations, applications and the networking environment.
5. Maintain all server locations at required network operating system revision levels and configurations per clients standards. Manage the disk resources on the file servers to provide maximum availability and user efficiency. Configure, upgrade and maintain Area servers and peripherals as required to attain the goal of zero down time of servers.
6. Maintain and publish server availability metrics.
7. Utilizing change management tools, performs moves, adds and changes to the network and PC devices as requested.
8. Manage communications infrastructure, including software and access to provide maximum user availability.
9. Manage other servers that may be on the network as designated by the Area.
10. Manage and maintain current documentation and records of all IT-related assets including servers, laptops, workstations and software licensing. Coordination point for specification and ordering of IT related hardware and software assets.
11. Provide timely and accurate input to the Remedy call tracking system to contribute to the online knowledge base.
12. Assist the Area team in planning and forecasting yearly computer hardware and software for budgeting. Track and keep the plan updated throughout the year on a quarterly basis.
13. Utilizing remote agent technologies for participating in a support role for regional ethernet technologies or server support.
14. Assist in documenting, publishing and training Area employees on all network and PC policies and procedures.
15. Assist in the planning of IT-related installation and configuration of hardware and software to successfully and efficiently deploy Controls and Area initiatives.
16. Develop innovative approaches to improving Quality Measurement results for the Area

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

5 years of experience preferred
CCNA or MCC certifications
Linux Experience
