NURSE PRACTITIONER, CV SURGERY

- Valve Program -

 

The Cardiovascular Surgery Clinic, Valve Program at Stanford evaluates and manages the care of adults needing pre- and post-operative care for such surgeries as Coronary Artery Bypass, Valve Replacement, Aneurysm Repair, Thoracic Surgery, and Heart, Heart-Lung, or Lung Transplantation. Working in an outpatient setting, you will help determine whether and when the patient should be further evaluated or scheduled for diagnostic testing or for surgery, initiate and implement systematic patient follow-up plans via imaging protocols/treatment plans for postoperative patients who were surgically or medically treated, and interpret pre- and post-operative echocardiograms.

 

To qualify, you must be a CA-licensed RN with a Master's or Doctorate in Nursing, BLS certification and CANP license. We require certification as an NP by a nationally recognized nursing organization, DEA number from the US Drug Enforcement Administration and NP Furnishing Number. CV Surgery experience is required. Additionally, specific training in and knowledge of the anatomy and pathophysiology of cardiac valve diseases of diverse types and etiologies, including hereditable connective tissue disorders, rheumatic heart disease, degenerative calcification, myxomatous floppy valve disease and ischemic heart disease/ischemic mitral regurgitation is necessary. Must be computer literate and familiar with clinical research database methods, Excel, computerized echocardiography lab imaging systems and other clinical applications.
