Occupational Health Therapist MoD

This is a peripatetic role in the provision of occupational health services to MoD and service personnel. This includes: case management (including Sickness Absence Management (SAM) advice to both civilian and military line managers as part of the overall Regional Occupational Health Team (ROHT)/Primary Healthcare (PHC) response); health surveillance; workplace assessment; advice regarding vaccination and clinical audit.

Monitoring of clients in varied work environments, routine health surveillance screening, history taking, advice to workers, gather and record working history, workplace exposure and recall for health surveillance, screening of health questionnaires, assessment of fitness for work, contribution to risk reduction and hazard analysis at the level of the individual awareness of nature of work risks and hazards.

Routine clinical pre-assessment procedures, recognition of factors that may contribute to and or adversely affect physical, mental and social well-being of Service personnel.

Researching the health needs of the work force.

Initiate and monitor the care of a range of client groups in the working environment.

Collect, record and interpret occupational health data.

Assess and evaluate risk in the workforce.

Health screening and fitness for work assessments.

Carry out varied workplace assessments, provide advice to line managers/SMO.

Develop and monitor return to work programmes on an individual basis.

Hazard identification in the work force, risk assessment and control measures.

Surveillance of worker’s health in relation to work

Pre Employment screening.

Independent clinical assessment of patients in conjunction with OH Physician. Routine clinical pre-assessment procedures.

Qualification minima and experience

Essential

Must be registered with the NMC and hold a valid Personal Identification Number (PIN).

Five years post registration relevant experience and Occupational Health qualification.

Computer skills.

Specialist Practitioner (Occupational Health Nursing).

Experience and competence in Health and Safety, Travel Medicine and PHCIS.

Desirable

Previous experience of working with MOD.
