Palliative Care Lead Nurse

Naomi House in Hampshire is looking for Palliative Care Lead Nurse to join their team on a permanent basis. The hospice provides support to families whose children and young people have life-limiting conditions. The charity has two adjacent hospices located within easy reach of the A34 in Hampshire in over 20 acres of beautiful grounds. Both hospices boast modern facilities and a clean hotel feel. The support given by the charity is unique across the South, it is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year delivering a range or services including respite care, end of life and emergency care.

This exciting opportunity is for a palliative care lead nurse who will responsible for providing a “hands on” leadership approach and will be able to demonstrate expert palliative care knowledge and high standards of clinical practice, whilst developing the role according to patients changing needs and research findings.

As the palliative care lead nurse you be required to support and lead nurses and actively participate in individual care through the 24-hour period on a rotational basis. Key responsibilities of the role is to provide a high standard of care for sick children and members of their family, working flexibly alongside families in the direct care of their children, allowing the family to choose the level of involvement with the care team. You will also be expected to participate in promotion of the service through specialist knowledge and liaison with external professionals. Finally you will also be responsible for acting as a representative for the organisation taking part in external promotional activities as appropriate, and in professional relationships and collaborative working. Skills Experience
Strong clinical management experience in a clinical nursing environment, either from working in a busy NHS Ward, hospital etc
BSC/1st degree (health related) or equivalent qualification/training and experience
Post registration qualification in appropriate area of speciality or equivalent post qualification experience
Mentorship course
RN1 or Nurse on the NMC register. To hold the appropriate level for the area of speciality
Previous experience of working in a hospice desirable not essential
Emotionally resilient
Extremely positive attitude
