Job Description:

 

Will work directly with attorneys and perform a variety of duties to assist attorneys in the litigation process. Must be able to make independent decisions regarding cases and be able to initiate contact with clients, attorneys and other involved parties. Duties will include, but are not limited to, preparing Excel spreadsheets; reviewing and assembling documents to be used at deposition; abstract deposition transcripts; prepare witness files; review, organize, bates stamp documents; index and summarize documents using Relativity, Summation or other database programs; organize and analyze client files; prepare chronologies and indices; attend document productions; arrange for and assist with expert witnesses; draft and arrange for the service and follow up of both Federal and State Court subpoenas; be familiar with the rules and procedures of  Federal and Texas State courts; including, but not limited to, the requirements for the filing of documents both in person and electronically using CM/ECF systems; be familiar with the drafting of FOIA requests to Federal and State agencies; cite check; shepardize; perform legal, non-legal and medical research, on-line research using Lexis, Westlaw and the Internet; assist attorneys in preparation of a case for trial.

 

Job Requirements:

 

Must have 5+ years of litigation paralegal experience in a law firm environment, preferably in the area of labor and employment law.  Class or collective action case experience is desirable.  A four year college degree and a paralegal certificate is required. Must be proficient in Excel as well as Word, Relativity, Summation, LiveNote, Trial Director and Case Map. Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to delegate; able to prioritize to meet deadlines and adjust to workload fluctuations in a fast paced environment; must possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
