PMO Manager – Tier one Bank

Our client, a tier one bank, who are entering an exciting development phase of their project, where an opportunity for a senior level PMO opportunity to work across a high profile risk transformation programme. 

This pivotal role will be responsible for supporting business heads and senior stakeholders in the delivery and planning across this demanding and highly profile Programme. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Manage relationships workstream delivery leads to identify and escalate issues and risks quickly and effectively and track progress towards delivery of milestones 
• Challenge workstream delivery leads to ensure delivery of business benefits in-line with programme business case 
• Respond rapidly to requests for information / conduct deep dives as needed on areas of concern, in response to requests for information from senior management 
• Establish and maintain guidelines, frameworks and templates to track and report information at project and programme level in line with best practice guidelines 
• Contribute to Programme reporting including steering committee packs, weekly reports, etc as directed by the Planning and Delivery Senior Manager 
• Support the development and maintenance of the Programme plan and roadmap including providing suitable levels of challenge to the underlying project teams 
• Support the maintenance of internal and external Programme dependencies and their incorporation into the Programme plan 
• Support the ongoing refresh and management of the Programme risks and issues 

Required Skills / Experience: 

• Experience working on major business transformation / change programmes in large, complex organisations 
• Experience of management reporting to senior exec audiences at Programme level (steering committee, weekly reporting, etc) 
• Experience operating, negotiating and influencing in a complex and diverse stakeholder environment to help deliver to challenging targets 
• Experienced Project / PMO Manager with practical experience of software development lifecycle 
• Highly motivated, disciplined and able to resolve issues innovatively when options appear to be limited 
• Highly effective communicator both verbally and in writing to audiences at all levels of the organisation 
• Effective management skills, including ability to escalate issues quickly and effectively 
• Comfortable and effective in a highly dynamic environment 
• Balance of strong critical thinking and analytical capability vs creative approach to problem solving 
• Experience setting up and maintaining Programme governance structures 
• Practical experience establishing and maintaining project and / or programme plans, dependencies and RAID logs 
• Good working knowledge of Banking and Credit / Market Risk functions, processes and systems 
• Previous consultancy experience would be advantageous 

To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate end to end project lifecycle experience working across a large transformation programme with knowledge working across a risk functions and processes. You will need to have experience in setting up project/programme governance structures, RAID concepts, derivation and management. This role will require you to operate across a large and demanding stakeholder audience, so being able to negotiate and influence is essential to help drive this Programme.
