PMO Portfolio Analyst – Energy Major – London recruitment

The role holder will ensure that the portfolio of IS projects are delivered to time, cost and quality expectations, through the effective management and administration of the Portfolio, Programme and Project Offices (P3O Model). The job holder will work closely with a virtual P3O team who will perform defined P3O functions and services at all three levels of the model including reporting, forecasting, strategic planning, resource management and portfolio accounting.

Required experience:

• Extensive experience of PMO environment within high priority, complex IT and business projects and programmes with an ISEB Certificate in Programme and Project Support.

• P3O Practitioner with experience of delivering P3O functions and services in a complex project delivery environment.

• Understanding of programme and project management basics and methodologies, e.g. Prince2, Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) or equivalent.

• Expert knowledge of project accounting and financial processes, financial reporting requirements, cost recovery models, the monthly financial demand planning process, and portfolio performance reporting.

• Expert level knowledge of project planning tools eg Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, with strong knowledge and experience of Product Based Planning, able to run Planning workshops and build and maintain Product Based Plans.

• Experience of portfolio cross dependency planning and reporting.

• Experience of producing Exec Level MI Dashboards and reporting against KPIs.

• Experience of managing a Portfolio Change Control Process.

• Solid analytical skills with the ability to interpret multiple sources of complex data to draw conclusions and derive recommendations.

• Strong interpersonal and communications skills (written, verbal and presentational) with the ability to influence and negotiate a wide range of stakeholders.

The Role:

• Support the Portfolio Office Manager in ensuring that the portfolio of IS projects are delivered to time, cost and quality expectations, through the effective management and administration of the Portfolio, Programme and Project Offices (P3O).

• Regularly liaise with project and programme-level P30 specialists (Project and Programme Support Officers) and Project Managers to help support the successful delivery of IS projects and programmes according to agreed delivery standards and processes, facilitating meetings when required.

• Actively maintain the Portfolio Plan including dependencies to the overall schedule and between projects within the portfolio. Provide strategic overview of all programmes, projects and interdependencies, reporting anomalies or areas of concern to senior management.

• Actively maintain the Portfolio Resource Profile, ensuring that it always presents an accurate view of the human resources required to deliver the portfolio over the medium-term (5 year) horizon.

• Develop and maintain the Portfolio Prioritisation Model, making recommendations on the programme and project mix to the decision-makers, balancing the portfolio in terms of strategic goal attainment, delivery capacity and BAU priorities.

• Maintain and continuously improve portfolio-level project delivery processes including (but not limited to) planning, resource management, risk management, portfolio on-boarding, assurance and accounting processes.

• Maintain the Portfolio Dashboard and supporting MI Pack to ensure timely provision of accurate management information according to agreed portfolio KPIs that enable senior management to make decisions relating to the portfolio.
