Power Systems Project Leader Job in Calgary, Alberta Canada

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Power Systems Project Leader to join one of our clients in the Calgary location. We will also consider someone that is located in Edmonton, but who can travel to customer locations.

OVERVIEW:

Power Systems Project Leader will take a leadership role in Engineering design activities, technical coordination for medium and low voltage substations and solution engineering for industrial and utility projects.

MUST HAVES:

- Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in electrical power systems design and consulting with at least 2 to 4 tears of EPC Project Engineering in industrial projects.

- Familiar with CSA, ANSII, IEEE, Canadian Electrical Code, Alberta design standards, and applicable national and local electrical codes

- Demonstrated skills and experience in effective design of power distribution solutions

- Experience with medium and low voltage equipment, motor control centers, transformers, switchgear, switchboards, adjustable speed drives, motor control, over current protection products, power monitoring, transient-voltage surge protection, power factor correction capacitors

- Demonstrated skills in coordinating work of multiple engineering disciplines to produce effective design packages

- Electrical Engineering degree, Registered Professional Engineer in a Canadian Province

- Experience with project engineering proposals, project development, and customer presentations

- Theoretical electrical architecture and network expertise, protection knowledge, electrical layout diagram and to understand plant/facility processes

- Project Management Certification preferred

- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and Oil and Gas Sector Engineering design experience would be a definite asset

- Excellent attitude toward providing system solutions to customer problems

- Proven written and oral communication of technical topics

- Excellent computer skills i.e. Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Electrical system analysis software

Responsibilities:

- Provide independent oversight of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts
- Pro-actively define scope, schedule, cost and quality of a large portfolio of projects throughout project life cycle
- Lead and apply extensive knowledge in the design efforts of medium and low voltage substation projects
- Responsible for working with internal and external customers to identify and execute power distribution system solutions
- Approve, lead and/or perform extensive complex risk management and engineering analysis
- Lead the development and presentation of findings to both internal and external organizations, including contractors and outside vendors
- Interpret, apply and educate others in applicable industry standards, and regulatory codes and regulations
- Provide extensive knowledge and guidance to others in start-up testing, inspections and condition assessment
- Provide leadership, technical direction and quality control for assigned projects
- Perform substation and protection design for Electrical distribution/Generation projects
- Work with solutions sales team and potential customers to help identify  quality customer needs and present potential energy management solutions
- Manage customer commitment during delivery and ensure long term relationship with customers
