Quality Engineer
Principle Responsibilities
- Conducts testing and dimensional layouts using mechanical and electrical inspection gages.
- Serves as the primary liaison between the company and customers on all quality issues.
- Conducts trial fit and function builds at customers’ facilities.
- Evaluate process capability using statistical tools.
- Performs technical and statistical investigations and analysis on production, quality, process and equipment issues using standard problem solving methods.
- Travel to customers’ facilities to participate in all phases of the customers’ launch activities: including Component Review Team meetings, assembly trials and SOP activities.
- Creates necessary documentation for customer initial sample submissions: including APQP, customer documents and any other required documentation.
- Prepare advanced quality planning documents and participate in quality planning activities; including FMEA’s Process Flow Diagrams, Control Plans, Gage RR’s and capability studies.
- Develop, install and operate quality systems for incoming material, in process parts and finished products.
- Any other assignments assigned by department manager.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related field
- 2 to 4 of related manufacturing experience, (experience in the quality function with an automotive supplier is strongly preferred).
Skills/Qualifications:
- Self motivated, energetic with the ability to think outside the norm.
- Strong knowledge and skills in statistics and/or QC tools inspection methods, CAD, GDT and APQP.
- Able to work unsupervised
- Be able to use gauges such as micrometers, height stands, check fixtures, etc.
- Microsoft Systems Knowledge.
- Must be able to work any shift.
- Must be willing to work overtime with short notice
- The skill to communicate efficiently, both orally and in writing, to internal and external clients.
