International Imaging Materials, Inc. (IIMAK) is an industry expert and a leading North American manufacturer of thermal transfer ribbons, which are used in a wide range of high growth markets including bar coding, thermal fax, color computer graphics and security authentication.  IIMAK’s global operations have nearly 600 employees worldwide, and are headquartered in Amherst, New York.  We currently have an opportunity for a Quality Engineer.

 

POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Engineer’s responsibilities include assisting with the development of quality systems, procedures and controls to ensure that products consistently meet performance and quality specifications.   The Quality Engineer is a leader and strong technical resource who quickly, effectively and permanently resolves quality problems with internal and external customers and suppliers.

 

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ø  Provide a strong quality direction on new product development /commercialization efforts to ensure that products meet performance/quality specifications and are highly manufacturable.

Ø  Develop critical-to-quality specifications, test plans, procedures, tools, meaningful metrics and controls for all aspects of manufacturing.

Ø  Take a leadership role on customer complaints to identify, coordinate and effectively resolve problems in a timely manner.

Ø  Develop plans and oversee the qualification of new suppliers and raw materials.  Work to quickly and permanently resolve supplier quality issues.

Ø  Employ six sigma and other quality methodologies to resolve problems, understand/manage process capabilities and achieve broad latitude/robust processes.

Ø  Train others in support of our quality culture.

Ø  All other duties as assigned by the Director of QA.

 

QUALIFIED CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS:

 

Ø  BS Industrial/Mechanical Engineering, Applied Statistics or equivalent with related manufacturing experience.

Ø  Good working knowledge of Six Sigma (DMAIC) methodology and tools.  Black Belt is a plus.

Ø  Understanding of Quality Systems, methods, Statistical Process Control/statistical methods, DOE.

Ø  Demonstrated experience of hands on mechanical/electrical aptitude.

Ø  Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ø  Ability to work independently, and in a team environment.

Ø  Strong MS Office skills, including Word, Excel and Access.

Ø  Able to interact with all levels inside and outside the organization.

Ø  Demonstrated experience and strong skills in customer service and interaction.

Ø  Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
