Position Overview Merck is seeking a Ph.D. analytical scientist to join its Analytical Chemistry in Development and Supply - Supply Analytical Sciences (ACDS-SAS) group in West Point, PA. ACDS-SAS is a central analytical support group that provides innovative analytical solutions to the global Merck Manufacturing Network, focused primarily on small molecule pharmaceuticals covering a wide array of dosage forms. The successful candidate will be engaged in projects relating to new and in-line products, supply chain strategy, analytical compliance and compendial compliance. This role involves collaboration within the Merck analytical community as well with other groups such as Regulatory, Technical Operations, Quality, Stability, and External Partners. The position would include opportunities for analytical support such as: method troubleshooting, method transfers, investigations (for example out of specification, out of trend, or unknown peaks), limited method development/validation work, vendor evaluation/qualification, and general analytical support of Merck strategic initiatives. In addition, the candidate would be expected to participate and when warranted, lead cross functional teams focusing on analytical investigations driving to root cause. Qualifications Education: * Ph.D. in Chemistry Required: * Up to three years of industry experience. * Extensive laboratory experience and knowledge of analytical instrumentation. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Strong organizational skills. * Analytical problem solving skills. * Strong technical and interpersonal skills. * Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects with competing priorities. * Ability to manage projects independently. * Ability to lead teams and workgroups. * Flexibility to quickly adapt to changing needs and priorities. Preferred: * Leadership and teamwork skills. * Prior experience with analytical techniques including HPLC, GC, and MS. * Working understanding of GMP requirements and compendia.
