Solution Architect Job in City Of London, London Uk

Our client, a global media industry company is currently recruiting for an experienced Solution Architect.

The successful candidate will be involved in the following :
• Requirements capture and analysis, especially for non-functional requirements.
• Define pragmatic solution architectures for projects documenting them in Project Implementation Architecture documents and technical notes, working through the normal client Proposition Delivery project process and engaging technical governance when necessary.
• Become a member of the client's architecture team, providing architectural solutions for system enhancements and extensions.
• Engaging with the clients development teams, helping them understand the architecture and soliciting feedback from them. Participating in review sessions for internal governance.
• Participate in global teams. Occasional travel will be required, and a flexible approach to working hours needed to permit communication across time zones.
• Maintain a network of contacts with other client technologists, keeping abreast of enterprise strategies and identifying the impact within the project domain.

It is essential candidates have the following skills;
• Ideally 5-7 years professional experience in multiple development and architectural areas (application engineering, software architecture, networking, etc)
• Excellent communication skills, especially across cultures and language barriers. Ability to translate complex concepts and communicate in terms understandable to technical and non-technical staff.
• Strong interpersonal skills to resolve problems in a professional manner, lead groups, negotiate and create consensus.
• Strong analytical and architectural skills, ability to manage complexity and to simplify for explanation to others
• Solution architecture skills, with the ability to define cohesive solution architectures
• Analysis skills, with a background as a practitioner.
• Practical experience with the following technologies: Web Services (SOAP, XML, WSDL), J2EE, Tibco EMS, IBM WebSphere, Windows, C++

Desirable skills include :
• Knowledge of financial markets is highly desirable
• Ability to act as a mentor to less experienced staff
• Ability to iteratively define a solution through influence and negotiation with business, technical and operational stakeholders
• Vendor management skills in reference to dealing with our suppliers
• Ability to conduct RFI/RFPs and technology selection exercises as required
